Nofollow Dofollow Tags There are two types of links that can be displayed on websites. Nofollow links and Dofollow links. Examples: Nofollow <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.example.com" title="example">Example</a> Dofollow <a href="http://www.example.com" title="example">Example</a> Dofollow <a rel="dofollow" href="http://www.example.com" title="example">Example</a> Links that are on your website pointing to other sites should be Nofollow links and links on other sites that point to your site should be Dofollow links. Search engines such as Google do not index (or weight) Nofollow links but will index Dofollow links. If you do not use Nofollow or Dofollow, they will be indexed by default. To put it another way, if the link is a reference; we want a human to follow it, then we can make them Nofollow. If we want the crawlers to index / follow then we want them Dofollow. Most blog site comment fields are setup as Nofollow to stop spammers. Please feel free to comment on this to help improve our understanding on how it works.
